The mayor refers to his critics as "Trumpian"

During his time on the City Cast podcast the, Mayor Johnston referred to people pushing for the return of the original Alameda design as "Trumpian". He felt that the connection between the Anschutz family and their influence was "conspiratorial".

All of this could have been avoided had the mayor and the DOTI Executive Director not meddled in a plan that had been finalized.

Admitting that a mistake was made and they listened to the community and returned to the original plan would have been a smart move.

Also, changing course on the Alameda project after a wealthy Anschutz family member hired a lobbyist and got the decision reversed was not a good look.

Rather than lashing out at people with legitimate concerns the mayor should have headed this all off and not caused the anger in the first place.
